Box two (of eight) started it's journey yesterday: Agatha went to a birthday-party, here's how she described it prior to leaving:

Little Box of Goodies 2 (of 8)

Off we go! This should be fun: me and my box of goodies are off to a birthday-party! And I'll stay with the birthday-girl! All I have is my eight Goodies in my travelling Box: my portrait, a portrait of some long distance relative (Hobsen V). A book of Irish Myths and Legends (always awesome) an a cd with some obscure music. Some sunflower seeds that can be sown in the coming spring and a puzzle-game called Tangram. A DVD with a weird, almost unknown short movie and a little ceramic bowl.

So I'm off. From my hometown Lichtervelde to visit my grand-niece in Torhout. What will she think, what will she take from my souvenirs and what will she replace them with. We'll find out when she will write the next entry in this journal.

Carolus off to a quick start

Yesterday, I donated the first Little Box of Goodies to be auctioned off for a good cause.  The person who bought 'Carolus' already decided he'd take one of the paintings from the box, and replaced it with -yes- a Hindu-God (I hope that's just a figurine, and not an actual God in there!), a Bengal tea-pot (wow!) and a cartoon.

Now that last item - a cartoon - may not sound like much, but this guy is an international award-winning cartoonist.  So.  I'm quite amazed, and pretty excited.  The first box is off to a way better start than I could possibly imagine.  The site's getting a lot of hits and positive reactions.  The Little Box of Goodies are exactly that. It's a little experiment in travelling boxes, and it's all goodie, yay!

Box 1 (of eight): Carolus

Box 1 started the first journey of the Little boxes of Goodies.  As every box at least has one of my (smaller) paintings, I decided to name the boxes after the character on the painting.  So box nr. 1 is Carolus.  I recently discovered there was a Carolus in my family-tree, so that's a nice little syncronicity.

The box Carolus went from Lichtervelde -central hub of the project- to Torhout.  Not alot further, I know, but the occasion was 'Banglabari', an auction for better homes in Bangladesh.  So, Carolus was auctioned off this evening, and I have no idea who currently has the box (or what they're going to select or put back in).

More on The Little Box of Carolus later!  And more boxes are being prepared to be sent off, in Belgium as well as to other countries, yay!
